Maya was spending her snow day mindlessly fishing. That is until the paparazzi arrived.
"I need to really do away with those people.."
Meanwhile, Trang is having a hard time with her painting. Getting focus was hard when you disliked the art of painting itself. Yet, painting was her dream and she would not give up.
"Maybe I should get Maya to pose for me?"
Life got boring real quick when you have 3 snow days in a row. Maya wanted minions…uh friends. So she made some of her own.
Sometimes, Trang really wished Maya wouldn’t prank the toilets.
"I need to do something about that girl.."
Maya had always wondered about her father. All she knew was that he was french. One day, she went through her mother’s contacts and found a number under the name ‘Bastille’. That had to be him right?
"Dad?"
The conversation was awkward. Her father only believed her once she mentioned her mother’s name. She had so many questions and wasn’t sure if her mother would give her answers.
Maya confronted her mother and wanted answers.
"I want to know him. Is that wrong?"
Trang never thought this day would come so soon or that Maya would look through her contacts.
"It’s not wrong, Maya. I’ll talk to him. Maybe he’d like to visit."
Trang emailed Bastille over a period of days hoping they could reach some sort of agreement. As much as she didn’t want him around, Maya deserved a father.
Bastille wasn’t a bad man. Trang was happy to learn he liked kids and wanted to be around. Snowflake day was approaching and Maya hoped he’d come.
"You’ll be here won’t you, Bastille? Maya would be overjoyed."
Snowflake day came within a blink of an eye and Trang was throwing a small party. Just a few of the neighbours along with Bastille. She was rather excited actually.
"Katerina, you’re coming aren’t you? Oh good! I’m sure it’ll be fun!"
It wasn’t until later on that Maya got a call from Bastille.
"Oh Father! Mother told me you’re coming here. I’m so excited!"
The call, unfortunately, wasn’t a happy one. It turns out Bastille couldn’t make to the party.
"Oh…what about my birthday then?"
He couldn’t come to that either. A 5 star celebrity was vactioning in France and pictures needed to be taken. Maya took it hard and holed her self away in her room.
“I won’t be home for snowflake day Sally. I have to work.”
“But Brad what about Susie?”
"She’ll understand when she’s older"
Trang was not pleased when she heard what happened from Maya. Immediately she called Bastille to give her a piece of her mind.
"What do you mean you’re not coming?!"
"I don’t care if Matthew Hamming is in France! Your daughter is here!"
I suppose since he's never met Maya I can't be too angry with him, on Snowflake day of all days, but I'd have thought he'd be more curious :/ Poor Maya, this can't affect her in a good way! And she's got a mean streak already! :P
