Doomday - Part 1.1

I found this challenge on youtube and I wanted to give it a try. I do love apocalypse stories.
Rules: Doomsday Challenge
--

Jamey Blount and Brett Harbin moved from Sunset Valley to Lucky Palms a year ago. They were both artists and wanted a quiet place to work.

They had been together for a long while and hoped this was a place to call home.
Jamey was concerned about the T-12 virus that was ravaging Sunset Valley. He hoped they'd be safe here.

DAY 60
They were watching tv when a breaking news bulletin appeared.
"For emergency purposes only, the town is allowing residents to leave their home for a brief interval to gather supplies at an emergency outpost established at the local grocery store and bookstore. Supplies are limited so each household may only spend up to $300 at the grocery store and $700 at the bookstore if they so desire. Residents are being released on a street by street basis. Residents on Applegate Avenue are released at 4:00 PM and must be back in their home by 6:30 PM. Streets will be blockaded (impassible) until the indicated times. Anyone not returning in time will encounter the police, have all purchased items confiscated, and returned to their home.”

They were both concerned.

"Jamey, what are we going to do? That virus isn't going to reach here is it?"

"We'll just follow the rules and carry on with our lives, Brett. We'll be ok."

Brett was a writer and was making his way as a popular one.

Jamey was an artist. He painted, invented and sculpted.

During the time they were allowed to leave the house, there was a Q&A at City Hall. Jamey and Brett decided to attend.

Jamey got their groceries and headed on home.
'I hope this all blows over'

After putting away everything, he got started on dinner.

Unfortunately, he was never good at cooking.
"It only tastes a little like char this time"
"Shush you"

It was later that night when another news bulletin appeared.
"Jamey! The news is on!"

"Another bulletin?"
"Yea"

"Good evening, Lucky Palms. This is Nicholas Hahn with the 9:00pm news. Ken Lindsay has urgent news about the T-12 virus. Ken?"

"Thankyou, Nicholas. It has been recently released that cases of the dreaded T-12 virus, or 'Doomsday Virus' as it has been nicknamed, have been discovered in Appaloosa Plains. Officials suggest that even there have not been in cases in Lucky Palms that residents should still take precautions and prepare for the worst."

Jamey and Brett watched the broadcast with worry.

"We'll be ok, Brett. We'll be ok"
"I hope so"

They went to bed that night hoping that the T-12 virus would pass them by.

DAY 59
Jamey woke up and got to cooking breakfast.
"At least I'm good at making waffles."

"Mmmm. I love your waffles"
"I know you do, babe"

They went about their daily routine, which consisted of working out.
"Are you ok, Brett?"
"I'm fine. I'm totally fine"

The two of them worked away until they had to leave for supplies.

Brett was the one that went this time.

The streets were so barren.
Brett couldn't help but worry about the future.

It was autumn salad for dinner that night.

Jamey decided to put a little more effort in his routine that night.
"This isn't as easy as I thought"

Despite living in their little house for over a year, Brett never got around to decorating it.
"A little wall tag never hurt anyone"

DAY 58
It was raining that day. Brett didn't like Jamey working in the rain. he was worried about him getting sick.
'He worries too much. I'll be fine'

He went out to get their supplies that night, wondering if he'd ever see any of their neighbours again.

After going for groceries, Jamey left concerned. He had heard that their had been a few cases of the T-12 virus in town. If they had gotten sick, they would need to test themselves. It was all rather scary.

"Marianne! How are you?"
"Hello, Jamey. I'm doing alright. It feels like ages since I last saw you or Brett. How are the two of you doing."
"We're alright and as long as none of us get sick, we'll continue to be."
"I hear that. Be safe Jamey."
"You too, Marianne."

Even if the world seemed to be teetering over, the bills still came.

As they were eating dinner, Brett started to cough.
"Are you alright?"
"I'm ok. Just choking on some lettuce"

"Speaking of lettuce, maybe I should start a garden. I mean if the grocery store ever shuts down, we'll be in trouble"

"The store won't shut down but that is a good idea."

DAY 57
Brett had gotten word from his editor that his fans were rallying for his books. In this dark time, people needed some distraction.

The two of them spent more time together. With the world going to hell, Jamey and Brett took all the time they could get.

"What's with this toilet? It never wants to stay fixed."

DAY 56
Brett stated feeling sick.

"Ugh"

He was throwing up and had general nausea.

Jamey was worried that Brett had contracted the virus. He didn't want to lose the person he loved.

Bonus Shot:
Jamey just loves Brett a lot.
