Van did most of the child rearing while he was home
Cale was happy with this decision

Julia decided to take up gardening as a way to be closer to Van
She was proud of her husband for working so hard. It was very admirable.

Van figured he'd get a head start on Cale's skills but he was not having it

Julia seemed to ignore the nonsense that was going on around her
She got it together eventually

Being a perfectionist, Julia felt she was a bad mother
Cale tried his best to cheer up his mother, even if he didn't understand why she was sad
Van came home stressed and Cale disapproved
He still read Cale read to bed every night. That was something he refused to give up
"Ahh, you got me"
Cale was unsure about the chicken nuggets his mom made him
The amount of things he gets up to while Julia's back is turned is astounding
This is the third chips and salsa she's made in the past hour. Someone stop her
All of Van's hard work paid off!
